Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie bring the live action Barbie (2023) movie to life

Barbie is a fantasy comedy movie co-written and directed by Greta Gerwig, and produced by LuckyChap Entertainment and Mattel Films. The long-awaited live action movie is inspired by the iconic doll franchise of the same name. Greta Gerwig signed onto the project as director and co-writer alongside her partner Noah Baumbach. Gerwig is best known for writing and directing LadybirdandLittle Women, while Baumbach is the creative mind behind films such asMarriage Story. The movie is partly inspired by the book Reviving Ophelia by Mary Pipher. Music for the movie is handled by famous musicians Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.

Barbie stars Margot Robbie in the titular role, with actor Ryan Gosling as Ken by her side. The iconic couple are ultra-fashionable residents of Barbieland – which is populated with several other versions of Barbie and Ken. In addition to Robbie and Gosling in the leading roles, Barbie has an all-star cast that includes John Cena, Dua Lipa, Nicola Coughlan, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Kate McKinnon, Hari Nef, Ncuti Gatwa, Michael Cera, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, NIcola Coughlan, and America Ferrera.
