Are Saylor Academy exams open book? ›

Good to know. The information on this page applies to the proctored credit exams for our credit-recommended courses. These exams are closed-book and closed-notes: only the extra resources on this page can be used on the exams. The allowed materials for an exam will also be shown when you launch your proctoring session.

Saylor Academy's Mission

All courses are available to complete — at your pace, on your schedule, and free of cost.

Because we are not an accredited school and do not offer part-time or full-time student enrollment, we are usually not able to provide enrollment verification.

However, Saylor Academy is not accredited to award degrees itself and not all accredited higher educational institutions accept credit earned for courses at Saylor Academy. It is important to check with the specific institution to check their policies regarding transfer.

A student should prepare for an open-book or a take-home test just as he or she would prepare for any test! A take-home or open-book test is usually more difficult than a standard test because more is expected. The instructor usually grades it more strictly, also.

Courses in the Saylor Direct Credit program include a proctored credit final exam in addition to the normal certificate exam. The credit exam provides a recommendation for credit from ACE upon completion. Passing the proctored credit exam is the ONLY way to earn the ACE recommendation for credit for your course.

What is an accredited diploma? ›

“Accredited” means the validity of degrees and credits issued by higher education institutions has been assured as a result of a peer review process involving seven regional accrediting commissions comprised of member institutions. 125 views.

According to the experts, degrees earned from accredited online schools are taken just as seriously as degrees earned at brick-and-mortar institutions. Although, it's also important to remember that hiring managers look at other aspects of your job application or resume before extending an offer.

Everything through Saylor is a closed book final, but the courses themselves prepare you for the exams quite well.

It is also recognised by SAQA as a Matric Equivalency certificate. The American High School Diploma is a highly flexible and convenient matric option for homeschooling.

Proctored exams are open book. You can reference written notes, textbooks, and other printed materials and you may also use eBooks if your online course includes them. However, accessing non-approved internet resources during your test can be considered cheating.

Prep your medical code books. The CPC exam is open book, and everything you need to know is in your CPT^®, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II code books.

These exams are timed and password-protected. All students enrolled in the course must take the exam online. They do not come to campus to take the exam nor do they need an exam proctor. Online exams are open-book exams.
